Kinetico Tackles Well Water Challenges
Unlike city treated water, well water comes with its own share of challenges. Depending on the water source your well is tapping into, the water coming through your tap may have a variety of different contaminants—some of which you may not be able to see or taste.
So how can you be certain the water you’re drinking at home is safe? You can test your well water, but it still has to pass through your plumbing as it reaches your home. In order to be certain, it’s important to test the water from your spicket, too.
Kinetico provides answers through custom water solutions. Get a quick quote on our efficient, money-saving systems, which we guarantee for six months!
Types of Well Water Solutions from Kinetico
Kinetico offers two different types of well water solutions to provide our customers with clean, crisp water: Whole House Reverse Osmosis and Water Softener systems. Water softeners treat hard water, which is a term used to define water that is very mineral heavy. The issue with mineral heavy water is that it can be harsh on your plumbing, laundry, hair, and skin. It also leaves behind a filmy residue and makes it difficult for soap to dissolve.
How do water softeners work?
Water softeners trade minerals for salt in what’s called an ion exchange. This exchange happens within a small resin tank filled with salt coated resin beads. As the water flows through the resin tank, the hard minerals trade places with the salt based on the reaction of their positive and negative charges.
Today there are multiple forms of water softening technology available, some of which use salt whereas others do not. Kinetico carries various types of water softener systems.
Reverse Osmosis (also known as RO) uses a different approach to remove a large majority of contaminants within your water source. Just like its name suggests, RO reverses the process of osmosis, removing minerals and ions from your water.
This is done by pushing water under pressure through a semipermeable membrane, which allows the water to pass but not the impurities. This includes lead, detergents and soaps, nitrates, sulfates, chlorine, chlormamine, fluoride, pesticides, and more.
The impurities filtered from your water are flushed out, leaving the user with fresh, clean, crisp water!
